Being Thankful
Well, ya’ll know I’m new to the official blogging world, so Im going to just write from my heart, try some different things and see what sticks.
Thanksgiving has always been nice but I am a firm believer in eating good all year round. My Mom is a chef and loves cooking ( well loved, shes feeling grown and has passed the torch to my younger sibling). I can remember being 11 or 12 and her making a Turkey in the middle of July just because. I come from a family that loves to eat (It be giving Soul Food, minus cousin Faith) so before the Pandemic we always had dinners at the house and would have people over. I’m normally the host and the drink maker (I make the best Sangria, I stand on that). I can cook but my sister is a beast in the kitchen, I do have things that Im pretty damn good at though.
This year, My Mom, sister and I decided to have Thanksgiving at my house and if you know us (mostly them) then you know the food was not ready until about 11pm Thanksgiving night. (I always admired those who had food out early, but baby we just aint that type of Family)
My sister made her first Turkey and ACED it. We had Garlic and Herb potatoes (Of course made with extra butter and garlic), Cabbage with Kielbasa, Collard Greens, Mac and Cheese and my Famous YAMZ (Im also willing to fight you about it, I make the best Yams, Trust!) You can see in the video below =)
We listened to music, talked mess to one another (our family has a crazy dynamic) and it felt good to be around them after a very tumoltuous year. Later, my cousin dropped me off a plate of food he cooked as well, it had Peach Cobbler and his famous Ambrosia Pie in it (which is a favorite of mine, no pictures, I ate it too fast)
Thanksgiving isnt the “Fun” Holiday, and yea, yea we know its made up greedy mess but I love how everyone gets a day off to just be fat and love on their family (even if you had on your Sundays best to just sit in the Living room). It made me realize how good it felt to host in my apartment and I’m actually going to Host Christmas and do some cool ornament and gingerbread house making. (My sister loves this kind of stuff, so might as well).
I love taking time to be Thankful, especially in this climate, people are crazy and the times are even crazier.
I hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving, I’m going to try my luck and have where people can comment, Leave a comment and tell me your Favorite Thanksgiving side dish, What do you look forward to most on Thanksgiving? Which one of yall cousins cant cook and shook the room by bringing that food to the dinner?
All in All, I was so grateful for my Very Low Vibrational plate. Hopefully I can get my sister to buckle down and start her own catering company, but she young and raggedy, so we will see.
Thankful For Yall On ALL Days,
The HFIC <3
